I've lived in this city most of my adult life (socal). I'm losing my current housing and I started to look for apartments. I haven't been able to get consistent full time work that pays more than $15/hr for two years now. To afford living alone I'd need to work a minimum of 50 hours a week. If one of my gigs falls short I'll have to make it up the next week.

I refuse to give most of my financial cushion I've saved over to some landlord in the form of a deposit. I'll never see that money again. I could upgrade my hiking kit and my car with that amount.
I did the math. I save more money working 1 job part time remotely being a nomad than working 3 gigs to pay for a 200-400 square foot studio that I'll barely be able to spend any time in.
Fuck all of this. I'm not sure what the solution to all of this is for everyone but I refuse to work 3 jobs to rent a shitty apartment to keep sustaining said shitty paying jobs.
