My work uses Kronos for scheduling, which also has an app. Rudimentary app, but an app nonetheless. It means I don't have to go to work to check my schedule, which is nice because I don't usually go that direction anyway. I work part time – every other weekend. I have a career but trying to get out of debt slightly faster.
I request off any weekend I need to – whether it's my weekend or not, to cover my ass and not worry about it.
I check my schedule on the app every Thursday and Friday. This Friday I checked and I wasn't scheduled on Saturday, but I was on Sunday. Weird but whatever, I don't question not being scheduled. I have plenty to do on a day off. Go about my Saturday.
Come to work on Sunday. Manager: “where were you yesterday?”
Me: Kronos said I wasn't scheduled.
Manager: you were scheduled because it's your weekend. there's a problem with the app and they don't know why. You need to check the paper schedule before you leave.
Me: why didn't you call me? You should know by now that I don't no call no show. If I'm supposed to be here and I'm not, call me. And checking the paper schedule does nothing – I work every 2 weeks so the schedule for my weekend wouldn't even be made yet.
Manager: if it's your weekend and you didn't request off and you're not scheduled, you should just come in.
Me…….
A) why isn't there a notice saying the app isn't functioning correctly?
B) why is it my responsibility to just “show up” if I'm not “technically” scheduled?
C) why can't you call me? It's not my problem that the app doesn't work. I'm not making a special trip just to check my schedule, especially with these gas prices. And if I try to call, they'll say someone will call me back and never will.
D) maybe stop building new stores and fix the problems with the ones that already exist.
