Time passed and I decided to email the recruiter as she said I should. I got an auto-generated email with the vague, “we're going in the other direction to find people who better fit, yadayada.” I wasn't even able to reply back to the recruiter to ask why. I feel by knowing what didn't work for them might help me grow and learn from the experience. Should I text the recruiter? She gave me her personal number.
I really just want to know why. I'm 31 with a college degree and 7 years of experience in exactly what they need! And my buddy is shift lead at the location.
The recruiter was out of state and the initial interview was only 11 minutes, half of which was me asking questions.
Lastly, I have 2 theories on why:
1- When they said the position is $16/hour as listed, I said that I'd love to learn more about the position and the day-to-day before agreeing to a salary.
2- If they did call my 7 year job, it was bought by a douchebag who laid all but one of us off at the beginning of covid. I've been vocal to him about seeing his PPP loans he stole, while releasing all of us from our careers, with the promise to be brought back. Nope. He brought in a skeleton crew of unqualified people to cover. He definitely wouldn't have incentive to say anything good about me. But the one guy he kept, the manager, worked with me my entire tenure and would definitely put in a great word for me.
Sorry this is all over the place, but I'm genuinely shook and feel like a piece of crap because I can't even get a shit paying job.
