Antiwork

I’m really hating the narrative of “no one wants to work” and honestly just wish that employers would just be honest, they don’t want to hire.

I am a water filtration operator trainee. I was given three years from my start date to get my license. Unfortunately the test has about a 30-40% pass rate so needless to say, the test is hard. I found out i was pregnant three months into working here so I had to take some time off for maternity leave. They offered 6 months, so i took six months. They extended my probationary period (which means i could still get fired for any reason at any time) by 6 months because of me taking off, but decided that they were gonna hold me to the three year period for getting my license. I wasn't happy about it, but that was fair. I wasn't happy about it, but that was fair.

Now a little background about me, i have an associates degree and bachelor's degree in business administration and i worked as a kitchen manager and eventually got promoted to a shift manager for three years at a local restaurant. As my backup plan so i wouldn't lose my benefits i put in some internal applications as an ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT and a PAYROLL COORDINATOR. The requirements needed for these jobs were a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA and TWO YEARS of RELEVANT EXPERIENCE. Two weeks after i put in my applications, my boss forwarded me an email that was sent TO HIM!!!! This email explained how these jobs were not entry level positions and i didn't have the necessary experience for the job and it would be best for me to consider taking the test again and staying where i am.

So i went to plan c which was literally begging my bosses boss to extend my training period so i wouldn't get fired since a bachelor's degree in business admin and three years of running payroll for a restaurant isn't enough to get me a literally secretary job!
