‘I’m super stressed all the time’ – shouldn’t be an expectation when you work

Read to the end for some ways you know you can begin to reduce the stressors you have in your life

  • Constantly thinking about work. What you didn’t have time to do and how it may impact other people.
  • You come home angry and frustrated, often taking it out on your partner or family
  • No matter how much sleep you get, it still feels like you’re always tired.

When you spend the majority of your time in an environment that creates unnecessary stress, it becomes a ‘normal’ part of your life

This doesn’t have to be the case.

Constant stress has so many health issues and I know first hand what it is like to have stress be the main emotion I feel.

It created

hormonal imbalances

Weight gain

Anxiety

Bad moods – more than just occasionally

Even losing my period.

Not until I learnt how to first regulate my nervous system, but to reduce environmental stress did this begin to calm down.

So here are some ways you know you can begin to reduce the stressors you have in your life

  • Asking for help at work. Reaching out to your boss or colleagues and sharing with them you are stressed and would like some support
  • Mental Health Sick Days, despite feeling some guilt, know that mental health days are just as important as sick days. Use them when you can.
  • Implementing something to calm you that you can use on the go, I like essential oils and meditation. Something I can quickly do on my lunch break to recenter me.
  • Reach out to a professional. Most workplaces have support systems like EAP that allows you a certain number of counselling sessions or psychological support!

Remember – just because everyone else is experiencing it, doesn’t mean you have to!
