VP recently hired our marketing director with a background in Digital Media into our company (top SaaS in the Valley). With all the candidates interviewed, they chose one that did not come from a business school. In fact, she had jumped from role to role in the past six years.
We, as a team of writers, developers, marketers, sales, analysts, and IT, would like the company to continue to thrive and eventually reward us — merger and acquisition, or go public. Have said that, why are these non-business degree directors — that's been jumping around — thinking they know a thing or two about reaching the 'bottom line', profitability, balance sheet, budgeting, pricing, business communication, ROI, LEADERSHIP, ETHICS, etc. At the end of the day, “WE” are the ones educating her about our work. These are the reason why we receive lay off notices — think Netflix — because of incompetent marketers.
This is going to be stressful during her reign or until she leaves for a VP opportunity elsewhere.
This is anti-work.
RANT OVER.
