I work in the industry of coaching as a minor, and we are classified as independent contractors but I feel like this is not true.
I am paid an hourly rate. I submit availability of when I am able to work and the company then schedules me.
I use the company’s equipment and the company gives us direction on what to cover, etc. when doing the work.
Where I am, employees are entitled to being paid twice a month (within 10 days), stat pay, and sick pay.
I am offered none of these benefits.
We had to sign a contract saying we are independent contractors, yet where I am, that does not automatically qualify us as one.
I don’t know what I should do about this. Does anyone have tips?
