Not sure if this is the right sub. I got injured on the job, and I contacted my manager an hour after it happened because said part was still throbbing. My manager told me to go to the ER. Me, not wanting an ER bill, refused and let them know I did not want to risk the charges. I continued working, and they called me back shortly to let me know workers comp would cover it. In the ER, I let the admissions person know this was for an employee injury, and they all knew I was an employee, since I worked at the hospital (past tense because I quit). Doc said nothing was fractured, I checked with him making sure it would fall under workers comp, and I was on my way. Well I received a bill from the hospital anyways. I called them and they told me it was never approved by workers comp, but my manager verbally said it was. This was months ago, and bridges were burned, so I no longer want to contact said manager. I was depressed and let it get to collections instead of dealing with it. What to do now?
TL:DR; Hurt on the job. Refused to go to ER to avoid bill. Manager said it was covered by workers comp. Got ER bill, and was told it was in fact not approved or covered by workers comp. Now in collections. What to do?
