Interview Project

Interviewed for a new job few months back. Went through 3 in-person interviews, each about an hour long with various team members. Then the hiring manager sends me an email that the team really likes me and they want to “invite me” to the next step, a “critical thinking” review. I said sure assuming it was one of those online assessments that I always test very well with. She ends up sending me four business scenarios and I need to write up formal business plan for each. As I’m reading over it, I realize these are extremely in-depth and would take me a few days to complete fully. Not to mention, these are in so in-depth it was essentially free consulting work for them. So I declined the next step of the process and offered to complete the project as a paid consultant. And today I see on LinkedIn that the hiring manager lost their job. Such a shame….
