How in the world do I reply to that. I'm heavily underpaid because I tried the stupid loyalty thing and 5 years in, training across multiple departments, excelling wherever I am… I'm paid less than most new hires. It really hit last night when I learned how much school lunches are and that I cannot afford to even feed my kids other than sack lunches.
Anyhow I digress. I'm applying for new places and some are asking about my current income. I'm pretty sure it’ll just be used to lowball me or say I’m not worth the position. Is this a standard question? How do I respond?
