I have a couple of interviews next week and just wanted a little advice.
So this is the scenario, I had an interview last week and it went well for a position where I am very qualified (over qualified in my opinion) they called me the following day to schedule the final interview for next week.
For this position I am already asking for an extra 10%, in all honesty I should have asked for more but that’s ok, the wage is not bad.
But the question is I am also interviewing for a manager position (I have managerial experience in this field as well) where the pay should be another 20% more than the other lower role. The manager position is for the same company, what should I do if they offer me the lower position but I want to hear back for the manager role first?
Basically I want to buy some time before I give them a yes if my salary demands are met, essentially I would work either but obviously greatly prefer the manager role.
I think I will not tell them I’m interviewing at the same company for a few roles (I feel this is on them to straighten out), this is a large company and are different departments.
Basically I just feel if I am all upfront and honest what is stopping them from calling the hiring process for the manager role and saying “hey don’t hire him for this role we really need his help for this lesser role.”
I think I will just ask them by what date they need my decision if I’m offered the lower role, and hopefully they give me 3-4 days if I haven’t heard anything back for the manager one, then perhaps reach out for the manager one letting them im considering a different offer but I would prefer to move along the process in this one if they are interested.
Hopefully this all makes sense and I would appreciate any feedback.
Thank you.
