Is it acceptable to notify my boss via text of my resignation when they didn’t show up to work on the day I planned on telling them?

Title says it all really, my boss is usually always at work when scheduled but abnormally they weren't today – or yesterday with no notice or reason. That's the only reason I'm just considering a text at this point. I honestly don't care too much about it since they have been, to put it lightly, a not so great boss. I already have dates set for my new job lined up so I absolutely need to tell them today – they are confrontational so I want to remain professional and just give a clear message. I have also emailed them and our district manager my letter of resignation this morning to cover my bases.
