My work gave me a raise (I think because they could tell I was getting unhappy and didn’t want to lose me) and they said on order for me to get it I had to sign a contract that I wouldn’t talk about it with anyone. They said to avoid any “uproar”… is this normal/legal? Thanks
Edit: so I’m getting comments faster than I thought I would be, with a lot of good points. I wanted to add a few things. This is my second-ever job so I had no idea going in what was legal/illegal/normal etc… so I actually signed the contract a month ago or so. I feel like an idiot now. I only found out recently the legalities of this stuff because I found this sub.
Also, as for my line of work, it’s healthcare. I work in a doctors office it’s a chain type office, we’re one of a few offices offshooting the main hospital.
So seeing as I screwed the pooch on signing it… and I already know I’m making at least 200$ less a paycheck than a guy they just hired… what can I do? (I happened to see his last check) I’m going to ask for copies of everything I don’t have already.
