Is it okay to reach out to a colleague who is allegedly out of office due to a discplinary action?

I (28F) have a senior colleague (42M) who has been out of office for weeks now. I consider him as a friend and a good mentor who has taught me a lot and supported me in my career in the past. It's been a few weeks and I heard some rumors about him being out of office due to a complaint filed against him. Would it be okay to message again and ask if he's okay and would need any support? I'm just worried that he feels depressed about all this and would like to extend my support to him the way he did to me in the past. Or would it be wise to just not message at all? I don't intend on discovering the real reason he's out but I just want to give emotional support as I know how difficult it must be to be going through something like this.
