Is mandatory overtime legal?

The boss said that the remainder of this month is mandatory overtime & mandatory Saturdays. So instead of 7-3:30 its 7-5:30 with the exceptions of Friday & Saturdays being an eight hour shift. Usually I would be super happy to rake in the extra money from the OT, but just recently I've been recovering from being sick and still don't feel 100%. I'm just worried that working a couple days like this will take my health back down and take a toll on my body. My job is very physically demanding and also requires me to wake up at 5:30am. I wish I could call in sick, but my sick days and PTO are the same and I need my PTO to visit my dying grandparents in the nursing home. Do you think I can just get away with working the normal eight? Is it even legal to demand this…
