Hello, I hate my job with a burning passion. I’ve never hated a job more than this one. I do full time door to door sales for solar in Florida. It’s 90+ degrees with a heat index of a lot of times 108-115 degrees and I’m knocking for 5 hours. They want us to knock doors that say “no soliciting” and even encourage us to knock doors with signs that have warnings that if we come on the property we will be shot, I’m being dead serious. My manager says “they won’t actually shoot you” and my manager has been held at gun point twice before. I’m the only woman working there out of 20-25 men, and one of the managers was showing me sexual memes and my coworkers sexualize women in front of me all of the time. My manager said I get paid vacation days and it turns out I actually don’t. I get paid a base pay every week with commission, and this week I have covid so I can’t make any commission. My manager messaged me today and said if I can set 3 appointments today, I’ll get paid. I said, what about the base pay? I have covid?? He said reschedule the appointments that didn’t sit and schedule 3 each day you’re sick, if you can do that you’ll get paid. He said I don’t get paid base pay when I’m sick, no paid sick time for the first 90 days which is probably also a lie anyway. He literally wants me setting appointments while I have covid or I won’t get paid, but also doesn’t want me to come to work for 5 days since I have covid. Make it make sense???? Just looking for opinions really, I’m not being too sensitive right? My coworkers act like this is the best job ever, the smoke weed on the job and talk about girls all day. Am I missing something here??
