Ok, so I know that it is actually, technically illegal for an employer to prevent their employees from discussing their salaries with each other.
However, does anybody have even one instance of an employer being charged with a crime for doing this? Sure it is “illegal”, but I have heard of dozens of employers doing it, and not one instance of them even being accused, let alone being found guilty, of a crime.
If we say something is illegal, and then let everyone do it anyway with absolutely no consequences, not even one instance where they are held liable….is it really illegal?
I hate pay secrecy, but saying it is illegal is like saying school segregation is illegal. Ok, sure it is people.
