Is there any recourse for me?

So I’m a resident of TN and was employed back in December to work as an AGM for a franchised swim school that shares its name with a popular snack that may or may not smile back. They bring me on for a not great salary and a worse “training rate” and me being the schmuck I am I didn’t clarify what that kind of period was. I get certified in everything I need and finally am able to start some manager shifts. I am being told to focus on learning and to ask questions.

I ask questions to the point of being told I’m trying too hard by the GM.

I have a conversation with the owner about the current or future possibility of benefits since insurance is expensive. He seems put off by the question and wants me to look generally “more like a leader” I imagine because he couldn’t think of any other actual criticism.

I get about 2 months into the job and then ask about when my training is over so I can make an actually somewhat liveable wage. I am then called in for a meeting with the owner the following Tuesday and am first asked “Well now that we are toward the end of your training how do you feel like you’re doing?” to which I say I feel confident in the processes and think I’m ready for more responsibility. He then tells me that he just wishes I could’ve been more and tells me they’re terminating me. I ask since this was without any warning whatsoever if they intend to pay severance or at least pay out my PTO at which point he tells me no and ghosts me.

It all stinks to high heaven considering about a week and a half before I was informed by one of the supervisors that one of the shift leads had been accused of sexual misconduct and that the GM and owner have known about it at least as long as I’ve been there. It’s bad enough to the point where all new female employees are being warned of this guy and he is STILL a supervisor above his accuser and the GM and owner are pretending it isn’t happening.

It sucks because I genuinely like the brand and about 95% of the people there I was really bonding with.

I just feel burned out of nowhere and that I was played like an absolute idiot.
