I posted on here yesterday about how I was looking to switch positions within my company to (what I've been told is) a higher paying position. My supervisor spoke to HR for me, who told her that it would be a lateral move, and I'd be getting paid the same. I would like to speak to HR directly, and I've drafted out an email, but I'm worried it comes across as too argumentative. This is what I've written:
My supervisor told me she spoke to you about my interest in the position, and that you explained to her that it would be a lateral move. In the interest of transparency I was hoping you could go more into depth about that. While my interest isnt solely for financial reasons, I was told by someone who has worked both positions in the past that there is a significant difference in pay between the two. If you could please give me some clarification of the amount quoted, and how that figure came to be it would be greatly appreciated. If possible I would like an estimation on what the range a new applicant would be quoted. I would also like to ask in your opinion what more can I do to grow within the company?
