Please see the post I made on here yesterday for context. I want to make sure this letter is honest and to the point without being unprofessional or creating more tension between me and my GM:
Dear (GM),
Please accept this letter as a two-week notice of my resignation from (Company), LLC. My last date of employment will be (date). I will always cherish my time working here, since this is the longest job I’ve held so far, with the most learned skills. This has been a memorable, rewarding experience that I will continue to appreciate. (<-- obviously just some fluff)
Unfortunately, I cannot afford to continue working at the current wage I make. I have major expenses I need to cover within the next year, and after researching jobs I am qualified for, I discovered I could be making more at a higher set wage or the same wage with more tips. I also feel this job isn’t working out for me anymore since I am getting paid less than my entry-level coworker, even after a great annual report and resulting 1% raise. I thought my prior experience in the quick-serve restaurant industry, great resume, and length of employment at (Company) would provide opportunities for advancement, but this now seems improbable.
I hope to dedicate more time to my highly rigorous studies before seeking out employment again. (<-- I think this will make him accept what I wrote more by ending on a positive note, because GM does have kids and some morals, if I just said I'm too busy with school and quit he wouldn't even be mad, but I want to be honest)
Sincerely,
(My Name)
