issue with new “flexible working” after returning to the office

Just want to state that this is my first ever post however I'm going though a whole load of stress-sorry this may be a long one! For some context, I starting working for this company the October before lockdown. Once lockdown started I was full time wfh with 2 kids – one 6 (doing home schooling) and the other 18 Months. Dad still working outside of the house on odd shifts so not really able to help with the kids. This was fine. I was even given an award for how well I coped during it all and still managed to potty train a child within a week and purchase and move into a new house (stress all round). Fast forward to us being back in the office. I have a new job role with the same company. We can pick and choose when we want to go in or…

We can pick and choose when we want to go in or if we want to wfh. Honestly, I would rather stay at home and save the £8.00 I need to spend on an uber to get in there.

New boss seems to believe that “my children's are a distraction and my work is suffering”. Not gonna lie it probably is – from the sodding lack of training and lack of management support, not from my kids being there in the school holidays. The eldest is 11 and youngest is 4 so after they are fed she plays with him until dad comes home – not ideal but better than £100 a day in childcare which would make me and their dad essentially working 8 hours a day each to bring home £40.

I'm now at the point where, yes my kids are here and I actually don't give a shit what you think. They cant provide any evidence to prove my work is suffering as we don't have any measurable targets – in my last job I was always the top of the board even with my kids at home and always was supported by my manager.

I get the feeling that this manager doesn't like people that have kids (she's 45 and has none by her own choice) and that I'm being picked on because I have them.

Looking for advice as I have been told I need to be in the office all next week – get the feeling she was trying to catch me out about childcare but I'm not paying for someone to look after my kids for 4 hours until their dad come home

Any advice anyone as I think it may kick off next week? If it makes any difference I'm in the UK
