I work for a company that is currently lost it's contract. A new company will be taking it's place. The current company sends out an email to the managers and says something along the lines of this; “If you/employees stay with us we will give you same rate ( 15 – How ever much you currently make ) and a bonus of 2000 dollars.” guess which one was the lie? If you guessed the livable wage then you are correct. We already had a few members just recently go down to the current company and see what positions that were being offered. 11-12 dollar positions all with varying degrees of work that could be easier or harder but nothing at 15.
We had one of the most experienced employee who had been working for current company for 7+ years get offered another position for a FEW dollars less doing much more difficult work. They currently make 22 dollars an hour and would be making under 15 dollars. The crazy thing is that the current company has not sent a email out to update this lie of more greener pastures. So let me tell you what we are actually giving up by staying with current contract: Raises, Free/Cheap Chef Quality Food, Paid Vacation, Paid Holidays, Stability, Cheap Medical Insurance options and Work Life Balance.
Guess who isn't sticking around with current company? I am so done with the current company and it's lying. The reason why the contract was lost wasn't because of the employees but because of upper management. I am going to make sure I inform each employee under current company that if they move with the current company they will have nothing to gain. I wish that something legally could be done about this bait and switch.
