I’m copy and pasting the text I want to send to my superintendent over the matter. I’m trying to be firm but also not come across as angry (even though at this point I’m getting pissed over some thing so dumb).
Text is as follows (will include more details after) and will follow up in person tomorrow:
Hey “Super”,
I’m reaching out to you because I’m missing a half hour of overtime from the 25th of March.
I’ve reached out to “foreman”, “general foreman”, and “payroll” each week it has been missing. As far as I know “general foreman” had talked to “payroll” last week and should have been included in last week’s check. I’ve sent numerous emails and texts, had phone conversations, and talked to “payroll” in person on the 14th of April. As of this week it still hasn’t been included on my check.
I’m really sorry that I have to escalate this now over something so dumb, but at this point I’m at a loss. And I’m not sure where the disconnect is.
Sincerely,
“me”
More info: I absolutely love working for this company and I absolutely love working with the foreman and general foreman. This shit very rarely happens. And when it has, the issue was always resolved immediately. A couple months back the payroll manager retired and was replaced with a new employee.
I worked a big job back in March and when it completed on a Thursday they had me do a couple small jobs on the same campus that Friday. The following week the 8 hours I worked on Friday didn’t get reported because they were under the direction of my general foreman, and he wasn’t there to put in the time. So understandably it wasn’t on the check. I was still missing the half hour OT so I let him know and he had payroll fix it, which was then included in my next check sans the OT. Since then I’ve been super polite and nice about it. When I talked to my general foreman last week it sounded like it was handled and should be on this check… but obviously it’s not.
Is the wording good? Does it come across too strong. I’m trying not to be a dick about it. But if this doesn’t resolve it I’m escalating it to my union rep. Trying to keep it in house right now, I’m not hurting for the money, but obviously I need to be compensated for my time.
