It’s sad that my employers insurance is more expensive than good rx for my prescriptions

Just started a new job and just enrolled in new benefits with medical insurance etc. I called to see how much my regular prescription would be for the mail-order service, to which they say that it is not a preventive medication (thyroid medication) and thus must be paid by me 100% to meet my high deductible. The cost was $50 for a 90 day supply. I said fuck it and searched good rx and found my exact same prescription for $10 for the same 90 day supply. It makes me wonder why I even pay for medical insurance. Anyone else feel this way?
