I’ve got a job interview tomorrow and I think they want me to do actual work for my interview. That’s illegal in my state without pay…

I’m leaving a modest paying full time job to self study in my spare time to develop the technical skills required for my dream job. I’m in a position where I can be picky with the part time job. If they actually want me to work I’ll ask if I’m getting paid which I don’t think I would be. Should I report them to the department of labor if they wouldn’t be paying me? It’s not like I need the money, I just don’t want them taking advantage of people
