So my workplace has a very bad management system, generally because the grand-boss is an absolute control freak who holds grudges against anyone who doesn't automatically agree with her.
She's currently trying to make every bottom level admin (less than £1 above minimum wage) train to be able to work in any department. These are departments with very specific skill sets, doing very different processes that have evolved over many years (mainly with the input of the admins, a lot have been here for years). Everyone is unhappy (to put it mildly) about this, as they now have no settled job. They'll turn up to work one week and be told 'oh, you're working in X department this week, log on'. And then they get told off for not being as productive as possible (imagine being a car mechanic, being given a fish tank to fix, and then being scolded for not doing as quickly as the trained fish tank guy).
But what I found out today has disgusted me beyond what I thought was possible. So Admin A has been in and out the office for periods of stress leave. One day, she messaged Admin B to say she felt suicidal. Admin B panics as they don't have a relationship outside of work so doesn't know how to help. Admin B passes on all the information to Manager (a yes-man of the grand-boss). Manager IGNORES THE EMAIL FOR TWO WHOLE WEEKS, and only then contacts Admin B to ask whether he could use her name while contacting Admin A for the very first time since the report.
I cannot fathom how little the management thinks of us. I'm not entirely sure they actually see us as people. I am SO GLAD I'm getting out of here, only 4 days left to put up with this shit!
