Since COVID wiped out many companies and restaurants many people I've talked to and former colleagues have told me they're padding their resume, extra dates here and there and things of that nature. However some of my bolder acquaintances have taken it to the next level; entirely fabricating Supervisor or Manager positions and restaurants and airlines that no longer exists. I had never really seen this level of lying before COVID.
I can see the logic, though. It may be impossible to verify if so-and-so really did work as a manager or lead server at this restaurant that's now closed, or at this airline that no longer exists. I have actual supervisory experience and its very tempting.
Then again for good jobs and jobs I want to keep I may not take the risk. For lower end jobs though I can certainly see the appeal. I did have a colleague who said he would claim to work as a butcher at a now closed butcher shop. I pointed out lying about hard skills like butchering is a big no-no. Stat padding and such though are fair game.
What's your folks option on this? is this something you have also observed? It may be more prevalent in my industry since it was basically shut down by COVID.
