I work for a major, well established company in the UK, I won’t say too much to protect my identity, but let’s just say if you live in the UK (and probably most major countries around the world), you probably have at least one of our brands in your home right now.

This month was 2021 full year results month, where the company CEO and a couple of other executives presented the 2021 results to us minions and had a Q&A, with questions submitted via live chat from employees.

It didn’t get off to the greatest start, with the CEO stating that the building they were hosting the event from had a really good lunch available and proceed to further reference this presumably company funded meal multiple other times.

They then proceed to announced the company had made huge profits, a lot of which have been due to pandemic related growth sustaining through another year of covid, with the credit being mostly pushed towards the employees hard work, which sounded great on the face of it.

However, once the Q&A started, questions about bonuses flooded in, with the main point being will the companies huge profits equal bonuses for the employees, which of course the answer should be yes without hesitation.

The admin of the live stream asked the CEO if he wanted to answer the questions about bonuses, to which he replied no, and then proceed to avoid any and all further questions about it despite the live chat being flooded with them.

In case the rest of this sub hasn’t already proven this point true, companies only care about profits, they don’t care about the workers, squeeze them for all the money you can, and then move on to the next one and do the same there.
