Job kicked me out after resignation. I refuse to be helpful to them.

Due to some workplace tension, I resigned from my job on Monday. My boss asked me to reconsider when we spoke on Tuesday and I said no, that I thought it would be the best for me and the company if I left. I told them that I would stay for my full notice period (4 weeks as required) and help as much as I could to make the transition smooth. I asked if I could work from home for most of those 4 weeks (many people work from home, but they’re trying to keep people in the office).

Well, little did I know that the next day on Wednesday when my boss asked me to show up in person for a couple meetings, that the true intention was for HR to ambush me in my office, tell me they accept my resignation effective immediately, hand me a check for the 4 week notice work period, and tell me to get out. They treated me like I was being fired, even walking me to the front door.

It was devastating because even though I was leaving anyway, I was willing to stick around to help. Also, had they just sat me down and talked to me like a person and gave me the offer to end my work early and still be paid, I would have 1000000% taken it. Why would I turn down being paid not to work?

But instead they decided to humiliate me because I dared to call out the discrepancy in the way they talk about how they care for employees and how they treated me.

Because I left so abruptly, there were many things, including an employee gathering, that I was planning. Some new people had been invited since I last shared the list with my boss. I started typing out an email to let him know to make sure to include these new people because I had already reached out and invited them, but I deleted the email.

Had they treated me with a basic shred of human decency I would 100% be open to helping out (I still do with former employers), but since they decided to throw me out without notice, they can deal with the consequences. I feel bad that these employees probably will not get to go to this event, but it is not my problem anymore.
