My boyfriend received an offer letter yesterday from a potential employer. asked them when they would like an answer from him, which is reasonable, right?
the owner of the company was somewhat taken aback by this and said he wanted it now, but he apprehensively agreed to Wednesday, as my boyfriend has a meeting with his current employer with the intention of either putting in his two-weeks or getting a counter offer.
my boyfriend texted the owner of the potential new place last night (the same night he received the offer) a question regarding his position. he was left on read.
today, he followed up and the owner called him recinding the offer letter after less than 24 hours citing the reason that he felt uncomfortable with how things were left the day prior, as in my boyfriend asking for a few days to consider the offer.
has anyone else had this happen to them? this is pretty unreasonable and unprofessional, no?
