So I work at a big name payroll processing company. The department I’m in has been going to shit for years due to the upper management laying off associates during 2020, putting all the extra work (going from 35 clients MAX for tenured associates to 50 per person, regardless of tenure and with no increase in pay) on those who were left behind, then having no game plan for people leaving to earn higher wages for less of a workload. The department is constantly hiring because new hires are overwhelmed or the tenured quit from burnout. I applied to my new position (same company, different department) after year end and instantly was offered the position.
Here’s the catch: Despite being offered the position in March, they are keeping me in my current role for 90 DAYS. 90 WHOLE ASS DAYS before I can finally start my new role.
My question is, is this legal? How can I fight back? Any advice would be helpful..
