I know you've probably heard it all before, but I need to rant.
I hate my current job, not because it's hard, it's just very boring. I work around 1 hour a day of my 8 hour office job, the rest is spent browsing reddit, twitter, tiktok etc. The work is boring and sparse, my boss is horrible and the commute isn't fun, and I have to be in the office 4/5 days for absolutely no reason other than my dinosaur boss thinks it's the “only way” to get work done (he is never even in, and when he does he doesn't do much). Plus, they pay is shit, and below the London living wage.
I've started applying for more jobs, for better salary and to do something I actually want to get in to. And also for my own sanity. One asked me for a Video CV, where I would also have to provide a selfie. Immediately turned off by this as a) they already have my CV and b) sounds a bit sketchy for a company to see/hear me and do who knows what with those bits of my identity. Another asked me when I'm free to do a grammar comprehension test (which they would email me and I would have 10 minutes to complete and email them back, then they would call me if I scored high enough) which they said I would be great at because my CV looked good, but hasn't got back to me about my questions for a date. Why is applying for jobs so tedious, and why do they want me to go above and beyond to maybe get a phone call from them?
My current job is depressing and boring, but searching for a job just makes me feel worse.
