I just found out today that the company I work for took 5mill in PPP loans that were forgiven, that same year we had record profits of 45-55mill. We are a software company that already had many people working remotely, everyone else was already set up to work remote, and we incurred 0 costs in the transition to complete work from home. NONE of this 5mill made its way back to the ~300 employees.
Meanwhile, we have friends who lost their restaurants because they couldn't secure PPP loans. The whole situation makes me sick.
I've looked into turning my company into the SBA for defrauding the PPP program – does anyone have experience with this process? would it even be worth it?
