Howdy! I applied for a staff position with a prominent tech publishing company. After waiting for weeks, I found out they didn't hire me. No biggie. These things happen.
However, a few months went by and they offered me a contract position–of course this doesn't come with goodies like health insurance, paid time off, you know stuff that would be beneficial for my family. During onboarding, my point of contact mentioned they were disappointed I didn't get the job and it wasn't up to them. Then, they told me the reason why I didn't get it: the person hiring said they had too many white males on staff already.
Is this discrimination? My gut tells me it is. It also tells me I cannot trust these people. So f&^% them. Or, am I totally misreading this situation?
