Just curious how many people here are struggling financially in America while their wealthy parents live abundantly?

Some context, I am a millennial who grew up in a middle class family until my parents got divorced when I was 13. I’ve struggled with careers, never had a savings account, and barely scrape by in my life. My dad and step mom are very wealthy in comparison, but hold resentment against me for being ‘poor.’ They never invite me over or talk to me at all, almost like they are embarrassed about me. They just sold their house for 3 million and bought another for 3.5 million so they had me come over and pick some furniture, aka, things they didn’t want to move. I felt ashamed and degraded picking through ‘their trash’ as they were complaining to me about things in the real estate market and how they’ve always owned houses since they were my age etc. they have no idea what it’s like to live paycheck…

they have no idea what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and put value on things. I cannot tell you how much I saw them throw away in a huge dumpster. I was thinking about how many clothes and housewares they just threw away, that others in need could value. It’s insane.

I don’t expect handouts, I just hate that our generation gets a bad rep because of our boomer parents have their own ideas of entitlement and privilege that really doesn’t understand or empathize with working/lower class America.

Anyone else have parents who blatantly hoard and show off their wealth in front of you?

I am hoping to create a dialogue about this as sort of a support group for others who experience this type of wealth gap in their immediate families.
