I’m fairly early in my career (3 years) and we just had our promotion season. Seeing as I haven’t heard anything from my manager it’s pretty likely at this point that I did not receive a promotion. I started at a different company but thanks to COVID ended up moving to my current company about 1.5 years ago. Regardless though I have 3 years of experience in my field and have never received any reprimands or warnings. Every review cycle has been “thank you for your contributions and willingness to learn and grow with us”.
Now I’m watching people who started their careers 6 months to 1 year after me getting promotions and raises. For the record, I think that’s awesome for them. It makes me feel pretty awful though since I’m most likely being skipped over because I started somewhere else first. Add in that my LinkedIn is recommending me several job listings for my company for this higher position and only requiring 12 months of experience and I am beyond frustrated. I’m scheduling a meeting with my manager ASAP to “chat” with them about my future at this company…
