Just got fired from my new job for not coming to work when my family member was covid positive. I work in a preschool……..

Yup you heard it right! My father in law’s results came back positive and since we live in the same household, we were all close contacts. Had to tell the manager 2 hours before work that I’m not risking it (until my results are negative) since I have to teach children. Manager didn’t reply me, removed me from groupchat, and got someone else to send me the letter of termination. Is this what the world has come to? Edit: I couldn’t care less about covid anymore to be honest (i’m 25, tired of life like everyone else in their mid-20s, even 30s), but when it’s risking someone else’s child, I am very cautious about it and I take it VERY seriously because children are more prone to sicknesses etc.

I shouldn’t have ignored the red flag during my interview when I questioned the manager about the school’s curriculum and she said that she has no clue what it is, and to ask the teachers myself. You work in a preschool and you don’t know the day to day flow? MAJOR RED FLAG!
