I asked for a raise to my manger because life cost is increasing. I’m working there for more than a year now. Was not expecting for much but just something to fight inflation and VAT increasing. The guy told me: « I was about to give you a raise by your previous evaluation but now I change my mind you have to reach new goals ». Apparently if I would have asked for a raise few month earlier I would got it. He never told me about giving me a raise before. This raise that I asked was a bit for my performance (that I think increased by the time i joined the company) but mainly because of the living cost and the guy just didn’t care about that. I have a 50k USD (I’m not American) student loan to pay back and the guy just ignore it when I talked about it. I know that he is acting for the company interest but it’s just disgusting to hear things like that. During the « interview » he kept on saying « you know you are lucky you are new employee and you have the chance to work on our new project. Now we are 3-4 people in the team but imagine when it will grow. » implying that I will have more responsibilities and pay raise. The thing is that he just told the team few weeks ago that we are going to hire people with more experience than the current people in the team because non of us can lead the team. I know that this is nothing compare to what other people live in the sun but just needed to complain a bit.
