There was a man who used to work here. He dropped his wife at her work, told her he was on his way to his job here, but instead went home and committed suicide. His teenage children found him.
The wife has a severe medical condition that she needs medications for in order to function.
The company, which is a multimillion dollar company a lot of you have probably heard of, cut off all benefits on the day he died. The wife was suddenly without any medical insurance at all, with a pre-existing condition to boot. All piled on top of dealing with her husband's suicide. No support, nothing.
This isn't a small business barely making ends meet. They have the money to spare to help his family.
There's apparently a mental health ERG, but I have no idea what they even do or how they help. But then again, there's also a Pride ERG but they still sometimes order Chik-fil-A for lunch, so not really sure how good these ERG's are or how seriously the company actually takes them.
It's just so sad.
I am…fine, in my position. I've had far worse jobs, and I really enjoy most of my coworkers. I took this job because it will look good on a resume and give me the skills I need to further my career in the direction I want it to go.
But dang, this kind of stuff is hard for me to take
