So for a little backstory, I (29f) had a sit down with my boss (30-something m) a few weeks back to discuss a raise (that I asked for). I am an athletic trainer, and the contract for the school I was at was held by a physical therapy company. The way my salary worked was that the PT company paid for half, and the high school I was contracted to paid half.
Long story short. I barely got a raise. Also during this meeting he decided to bring up literally everything I had done wrong in the past year and berated me for being a few minutes late due to traffic. I was already exploring other options at this point, and I received an offer with much better pay and excellent benefits. I sent in my letter of resignation and gave 3 weeks notice. I offered to complete some administrative tasks to make the transition easier and to help in any way I could. My boss took two days to respond, and he fired me after receiving my resignation.
He said I “didn't do anything to help prepare the incoming AT” and that he was “disappointed by how I decided to resign.” Among other things like how I didn't give him a chance to counter offer and that I didn't tell him I was looking at other jobs. Who tells their boss that they're looking for other work unless they actually want to get fired?
I am pretty sure I hurt his pride and his feelings. We had previously had a good working relationship. I've never been fired or had a previous employer act this way after resigning. Basically he's trying to gaslight me into thinking that this is all my fault and that I should feel guilty. I'm just super pissed off about it and need someplace to vent.
Not to mention I have two young kids and he just decided that I won't get paid for the next few weeks. Super cool.
