I work as a Physiotherapist. I started working at the end of 2020, and at first I loved my job: lots of support from senior therapists, lots of variety, and a fun manager. Then I moved cities and transferred branches and it all fell apart. I was made a bunch of promises that made me excited about the move but here I am a year later and there has been no change. My raise last year was 2.8%, I have much less variety, I'm not getting support with my continuing education, and the corporate policy means I don't get credit for “unbillables” so I'm always being notified to increase my patient workload despite already being fully busy.
I recently reached out to a friend who put me in contact with her manager at the hospital and they offered me a job, so I just quit. It comes with good variety, a raise, better pension, and best of all, a healthcare worker union!
I have always been an advocate for worker rights at my job, and to anyone who will listen really, so I just wanted to share my news! Everyone deserves support from a healthy workplace, and I hope everyone here can find their own space to flourish!
