I remember one in particular, a budget watchdog non-profit. I was enrolled in a phd program doing advanced stats, had many years of relevant experience, lived in NYC and had a kid. Asked for $80k. You’d have thought I took my pants off in the meeting. I could see on their faces how completely out of line I was to ask for what my friend called grown up money. Fuck corporations, but double fuck non-profits and their wealthy exploitative funders.-
