I was recently terminated from a work-from-home job that supplied me with equipment, such as a PC and Monitor, etc.
Termination Details:
I had been ill for a while and had been supplying my work with medical documents. They made an accommodation for me in regards to scheduling and I was doing wonderfully at the job. My call quality was great and my conversions were wonderful (I booked hotels).
Recently, management called me to tell me they felt I wasn't a good fit for the job and I disagreed with them. I emailed and informed them that their decision was unfair and wrong and I used their company's slogan against them to show that they were not following their own words.
To sum it up, they effed me over and left me jobless and without money to pay rent, bills, to feed myself and my animals, etc.
Tech Concern:
Now—I still have the equipment.
I have been applying for other WFH jobs and some of them require my own equipment.
I don't have a PC, so I decided to wipe this one clean and keep it—they will withhold some small amount of money for the non-return of equipment, but I don't care. I got my last full pay for them the day they fired me.
I factory reset the computer myself. I forced a reset without putting in Admin credentials.
(LOG IN SCREEN > HOLD SHIFT KEY > SELECT RESTART > RELEASE SHIFT KEY ON “PLEASE WAIT” > TROUBLESHOOT > RESET THIS PC > REMOVE EVERYTHING).
My question:
IT Support at the job could occasionally access my computer to perform updates or maintenance when I was working at the job, however, after resetting the PC, I am wondering if they will still be able to do this, and if so, how can I prevent any third parties from remote-accessing my computer?
How can I secure this PC as my own?
Thank you, in advance!
