My most recent job gave me my last two paychecks late. The second to last one was almost two weeks, and the last one was a little over a week. In my state (Missouri) if a payroll check is two weeks late, the company is legally required to pay the employee double the amount of the paycheck, but the first check was just two days short of two weeks late… but, they sent me a paper check AND a direct deposit for my last paycheck—the same amount for each. This was an error on their end, because they sent the paper check to the wrong address and then pushed the deposit through assuming it was lost in the mail.
Can I still cash the paper check, especially considering I’m not employed by this company anymore? I can’t find any answers to this specific question on google. Thanks in advance.
