That title is kinda clickbaity it sounds like I’m just quitting and being a deadbeat dad but I digress!
I’ve been working a job I hate for three years now and I’ve finally had enough after they slashed my pay and then started asking me to work overtime every week, once again I digress.
I’m leaving this shit show and have found a job offering me 2x my current hourly pay rate with much more stability. It’s a smaller company and I am actually getting good vibes when talking to others in the industry about them.
My wife is currently 4 months pregnant and I wanted to take a month off to be with her and the baby however it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to do that since I’ll be starting a new job and will no longer be covered by the FMLA or CFRA. Is there a loophole I’m missing or do I need to spend another 6 months at a job I despise making less money because it’s the only way I’ll be able to have some time with my family?
What a headache, I’ve searched for hours now and haven’t found anything. I haven’t talked to the new employer about it yet, they’re pretty cool but I would like to have a legit option before I jump ship to them just in case 6 months from now they’re under new management or try to rescind a time off deal leaving me in a do or die (do or your family will die) situation.
If anyone can help point me in the right direction I’d greatly appreciate it.
