Leaving toxic environment

At my first ever IT job, I worked at a mid size office. Since it was my first IT job, I pretty much was letting myself be taken advantage off. I did more than IT, I literally took the bosses' car to the car wash! Or even do non technical tasks. I sold myself short when it came to salary (I really low balled myself just so I could have the job) And when I asked for a raise more than a year later I was seriously stiffed. Meanwhile the boss was getting a new car AND a new house! SO!…I started doing interviews for other places. I sold myself short when it came to salary (I really low balled myself just so I could have the job) And when I asked for a raise more than a year later I was seriously stiffed. Meanwhile the boss was getting a new car AND a new house! SO!…I started doing interviews for other places. Finally found a job that met my requirements, and the interviewer called my boss just to verify that I actually worked at my current company. (This caught me off guard) My boss came to me and said this person called him to verify that I worked there, and that's when I realized what had happened. So I said “I don't know who that is” but he knew what was up so he insisted I tell him! So I did, I told him I interviewed for a new job and they will make me an offer soon….He was very upset. He said “Do you think it takes me 2 weeks to fill your position??” “Consider this your two weeks notice!” So I left after 2 weeks and got the new job! And you know what? My old boss never ever thanked me for my time there….that was literally his last words to me “Consider this your 2 weeks notice” Asshole, now I'm at a much better place. Best decision I ever made career wise!
