I think the problem with work lies in the repetition in some jobs. People need purpose, and they can get it through work. I could not live without my job, cause it is my passion.
I think that automation is the solution, but think that it is most realistic and profitable to start automating jobs with heavy labor, stressful jobs and jobs that are simply demotivating.
Since the earths resources have been given to us for free, we have started with an amazing advantage, and with a little automation, every person could spend their time doing what they want.
