I work at a medical clinic. Managers are required to be certified medical assistants.
Our manager has been with us a little over two years, a few months before the pandemic.
She got in trouble recently for telling us to clock out and work for free, or we would get in trouble for getting overtime. Also, that we weren't entitled to our two 10-minute breaks. I don't know why she wasn't fired.
We are down four medical assistants, but she firmly states “we are not short staffed!”. When are we hiring replacements? “We are not short staffed! We will not be hiring. We have plenty of people.”
Everyone is drowning. She has to step in as an MA because there is literally no one here. She can't sit and watch her manager videos because she actually has to work.
A random email comes out asking for $400 for spa treatments for our manager for “going above and beyond” and “they've never seen a manager step up like her”.
Our manager makes twice what we make. We don't have adequate staff because she is blocking hiring because it's a bonus for her, she is saving the company money. And some staff member is asking us to contribute money to reward her for getting paid twice as much while we operate on a skeleton crew BECAUSE SHE WONT HIRE ANYONE.
That flavoraide must be good.
