like job but hate “training”

I have a job as a database administrator that I like most days. I wish I didn't have to work, but at least it's interesting and challenging most days. Most days, i don't have to deal with people, which is great because I'm a raving introvert and I value my privacy. We are a small nonprofit that does training and workforce development. Our clients and staff are diverse. We have a new HR director that has been requiring two DEI staff trainings a month going forward. I hate them. The focus has been on letting staff talk about their feelings about how toxic the workplace is, even though some acknowledge that they haven't felt mistreated here.

We will have a four hour, in person meeting next week to do this again. I don't understand what the goal is supposed to be. Will we all feel better when it's over? I kind of doubt it. I really wish instead we would focus on the systemic racism and sexism (and all other hurtful isms) outside of our organization. We train people who have had difficulty getting or keeping a job and we send them out to work at a local business or local national retail chain and pat ourselves on the back if they stay there a year. The deck is already stacked against them and we say nothing about that.

I've tried to talk about this with our hr director (who is also my supervisor). I have to work, but I'm ready to leave this job because of these trainings. They do nothing for me except take up time and energy for doing my actual job. I'm not perfect. I am always looking at ways to learn and grow personally. I try always to treat my colleagues with respect, but they are work colleagues and this shouldn't be mandatory group therapy.
