Living in Switzerland

Every day I spend on this subreddit, I am glad I live in Switzerland. We get days off for funerals, weddings etc. plus 5 weeks holiday a year. “Sick leave” isn’t a thing, if you have a doctor’s note (which you get for a sore throat or similar stuff) you get paid for recovery time. Our healthcare isn’t free sure, but I read about someone who pays $375 a month and has a 15k deductible. I pay $350 a month and have a deductible of $300 (!) a year. If I lose my job, I get paid by the “work center” while I find a new job. Plus, you have to get 3 months notice from the employer before employment runs out. If I can’t get a job before the deadline runs out (about 250 days) I go on welfare. Which covers rent plus necessities (including a TV). You never…

I feel blessed. I truly do. Sure, there are things that can and need to be improved on, like paternal leave (maternal leave is 14 weeks paid, paternal is 2 weeks), but I feel grateful for the position I was born in.
